Redemption for Broken Places

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Mark 16:15-18

At the end of May, our Bold Ventures team spent time on two islands in Lake Victoria with a team of eleven from Sun City Church and Sun City Leadership College in Spokane Valley, Washington.

On this impact mission we saw the signs Jesus promised when we go into the world:

  • We preached the gospel on the streets of Kampala & the twisted trails of Koome Island. Many believed, putting their faith in Jesus and some were baptized in the Lake.
  • We cast out demons who were oppressing men, women, and children. Because of pervasive witchcraft, we often see demons manifest by throwing people on the ground and convulsing. After prayer, many were delivered from their oppression.
  • People spoke with new tongues as they received the Holy Spirit and began to pray. After all, we are working with Pentecostal churches!
  • We killed and “took up” a venomous snake on one island. The green mamba was near a tree that the locals swear is haunted by another giant snake!
  • Drinking too much lake water while swimming didn’t hurt us. After finishing ministry one hot afternoon, the team swam to a neighboring island for good fellowship with the Christian family they found residing there.
  • Jesus healed many physical ailments on the spot as we commanded bodies to be healed in the name of Jesus.

Bold Ventures Presents: The White Egret

We took time to capture the impact this trip had on the people of the islands and in our own hearts. Please take a few minutes to watch this beautiful video. If we could only splash you with water and bring home the smells, you’d pretty much feel like you are there! I hope it encourages you to take steps of faith even in the midst of challenging circumstances.
